Sometimes life has to shove you!

Life lesson I learned in May: When you make a decision and it happens to be the wrong one.. Heavenly Father’s gonna let you know by shoving you back to square 1!

Like a re-do.

Well I just got to make a re-do decision! Back in April, I had decided not to move to England (because of finances, school, job, etc). So I cancelled the plane ticket I had and set my hopes on booking one again in a year after I graduated. I never stopped feeling like I needed to go to England, I just pushed those feelings away because at the time I also felt like I needed to be here in Salt Lake.

Long story short, it turns out the Lord has something in store for me and I’m back to my original plan!

I say this all the time but TIMING IS EVERYTHING! And just a word of advice: Not only should you trust yourself with every decision you make, but also trust that the Lord is going to guide your path. And when you make a wrong decision, He’ll let you know before its too late.

So if you didn’t catch on- I’M FINALLY MOVING TO ENGLAND!! And its feels so right :)

Spring Bliss

Well people, I finally feel like spring is here. I don’t care that it just snowed last Friday. Or that there is another storm coming in, well, right now haha. IT IS SPRING!

Here is my proof: I walked outside yesterday morning into the crisp fresh air (that really, only spring can offer) and found 3 patches of wild tulips that have blossomed!

Aren’t they beauties? There are some pretty red ones right next to them. Now if only there was a way to bottle up the smell of outside and save it for later. I wonder if Yankee makes a candle for that?

Mmm yay.. Summer is right around the corner! :)

Spiritually Self-Reliant

So I’ve been reading a book lately called ‘Hearing the Voice of the Lord’ by Elder Gerald N. Lund. Last night I read a really good part that pertains directly to my life at the moment.

It expounded on the scriptures found in Doctrine and Covenants 58:26-29. “Men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness. For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves.. He that doeth not anything until he is commanded, and receiveth a commandment with doubtful heart, and keepeth it with slothfulness, the same is damned.”

The book takes it a bit further and says, “We are to use the light and knowledge we have already received to move forward with life, making choices and striving to live the gospel.”

Wow, that hit me hard! I have been thinking night and day about my decision to go to England this June. For the last few weeks I have been getting a feeling to postpone going for few months but didn’t know why? Another part of me kept saying that I was to go to be an EFY counselor, be there for the Olympics, do a semester abroad, etc etc. I prayed every day to know what the Lord wanted me to do and I wasn’t getting an answer.

Then this last Monday I just up and decided to trust my feelings and hope they were coming from my Heavenly Father.. and I cancelled my plane ticket! Crazy? Yes.

But after reading those scriptures in D&C and reading that part in the book, I knew that I was being taught how to be self-reliant.

Heavenly Father is not going to tell me what choice to make in every decision I will come across in my life. He has supplied me with His spirit and knowledge (scriptures) to work out each decision myself. And I trust Him enough that if I happen to make the wrong decision, He’ll let me know!

So there it is. England is no more. Not right now at least. I have been blessed tremendously in the last week and I know that my decision is right.

So England- I will come, don’t you worry!! Let’s just hope we meet before the year is up!

:) xo

A Yellow INFP

A yellow INFP. Yep, that’s me.

Ever heard of the Myers-Briggs personality test? If not, then you are living under a rock and need to take this test RIGHT NOW! (Click here .. it’ll take you maybe 15 minutes but its fun I promise! Then come back haha.)

So, I am obsessed with peoples personalities and how we are all different. When you know what type you are and even what type others around you are, you can have better relationships with those around you. And you know what, sometimes we do things just because that’s the way we are “wired” and conditioned. It doesn’t mean anyone is better than anyone else. There’s beauty and peace in knowing how and why we are all different. A great website to check out once you know your type is this one hereIt’ll give you insights on your strengths, weaknesses, careers, relationships, etc. LOVE.IT!

Another test I looooove is the color code test. You know- red, blue, yellow, white. I am a yellow! I happen to be motivated by fun!! Haha no wonder I kept going back to New Zealand.. and no wonder I can’t seem to stay in one place for too long before getting bored, ha! You can take that test here. It will give you an order of what colors you are. For me I am about 50% yellow with about 30% white, 15% blue and 5% red. Red’s are motivated by power… ick! I could care less about power and leadership! I am your fun-loving, adventurous, passive peacemaker… seriously! Anyone who knows me will agree!

So why am I even talking about personality tests? Mostly because I am curious to what each one of you are (I find it soooo interesting!) But also because I think that once you know what you are, whether it’s an INFP, ENFJ, ENTJ, red, yellow, blue etc. then you can stop being so hard on yourself and others.

And in case I haven’t said this yet.. its also FUN! (And I like fun, remember? haha)

So what are you?

The Londoner

This last week my roommate Emilee and I have become obsessed.. literally obsessed (on every possible level) with this blog: www.thelondoner.me.

Here is where we got the idea to try out these so-called slutty brownies. Yes, slutty brownies. They are easy.. hence the name haha.

So in the last 5 days, all of us (my roommates and myself = 5 girls = chocolate lovers) have already eaten 2 big pans of yummy goodness. They are delicious and so so easy! You’ve got to try them!

And then after you gorge yourself with them (because you will), take at look at this next post from the Londoner called the anti-diet. It will save your life.. and your waistline.

This girl is kick-butt amazing and has so many great ideas/tips. Follow her blog if you’re not already!

(And for those of you who saw my post on here about Lent should know I have indeed been unsuccessful! Haha. But hey, no sugar period for over a month? It was a dang good effort getting through 2 weeks. After all I am a girl! :) )

Helping Hands

I don’t know how to else to begin this post other than letting you listen and watch this incredible video:

I know so many of the dear people in this video. A lot of them were such a big part of my life in New Zealand. But what I love most about this video are the lyrics.

“Reaching out to the weary, strengthen feeble knees.
Finding joy in the journey, our hands become as His.
With hands that lift.
Hands that share.
Hands that work.
Hands that care.
Hands that help.
Hands to hold.
Hands that beckon to His fold.
But simple acts can lift and simple hands can serve.
The unity of helping hands can heal an aching world.”

We are all given physical hands to help others around us. And “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.” So take the time out to put those hands of yours to good use and makes someone’s day a little brighter.

Typical Me

For the last few days my mind has been very pre-occupied with this beautiful place:

Its only been 7 weeks since I’ve left but sometimes I have those days where I think I am still in New Zealand. Like yesterday.

Victim: cute boy in my ward.

This cute boy came to my house to pick me up last night and as I went to get into his car, he stood there looking at me, surely thinking something along the lines of, “What the heck is this chick doing?!!” What was I doing? I was getting into the drivers’ side. Apparently in America the drivers’ side is the opposite to New Zealand. Who could remember such nonsense????

Luckily it was a hilarious ice-breaker and great conversation starter as I proceeded to explain myself in between bursts of laughter. Hmm… maybe I’ll try this out with every guy I go out with!
